Forest Fridays: Exploring the Floodplain

January 3, 2020 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

$10

With a commitment to conservation and a curiosity about the natural world, our volunteers offer a unique perspective of Floracliff. In 2020, these dedicated volunteers are leading a series of afternoon hikes, highlighting the trails and terrain that they care for at Floracliff.

Winter is a great time to enjoy the view of the Kentucky River Palisades. Join us as we descend from the uplands of Floracliff along the old road to the Kentucky River floodplain. We’ll walk through river bottoms where farmers once grew corn, tobacco, and hemp, visit a large pawpaw patch, and see the old house that was built after another washed away in the flood of 1937.

Leaders: Cynthia Higgs, Byron Madara

Hiking Level: moderate to difficult due to 300ft elevation loss and gain; 2-3 miles

Refund Policy: Refunds are permitted for cancellations made at least two weeks in advance of the event. No refunds or transfers of fees will occur if the request is made less than two weeks prior to the event. To request a refund, email info@floracliff.org.
